Brave New Knits came out a few weeks ago and I was delighted to be featured in such good company. It's very rare for me to publish something with someone else, mostly just because my own projects keep me so busy, so a call for submissions has to have something extra special to spark my interest. In other words, it has to be a book I'd be excited to read myself. This one is not only a collection of designs by wonderful designers but you get to find out a bit more about them in the fascinating profiles featured alongside each design.
This is my contribution, the Orchid Thief Shawlette in Malabrigo sock. Follow that link to ravelry where you can see Jared Flood's beautiful photographs of the original sample in the eggplant colourway. I've known ever since I sent off the sample, more than a year ago, that I wanted to knit one for myself. I cast on in July, knit a little every so often in between numerous more pressing projects and finally, finally blocked it yesterday. Several ravelers having beaten me to the finish line after starting much later. This one is also in Malabrigo sock, in Ravelry red and I love that although it's a small one skein shawl, the curved shape gives a pretty dramatic effect. Perfect with the new haircut I'm still getting used to.
Oh and I'm afraid that there is some errata for this pattern, so if you're planning on making it make sure you grab the corrected chart here.
