Weekly wrap up

The Knitscene summer preview is up and perfectly aligned with all of the airy linen garments I'm dreaming of, like Bristol Ivy's Linum Tee, right.

The Yarn Harlot posted a great blocking tutorial in which she shows not only how to block a sweater but passionately argues why you should. Yes!

Clara Parkes has a new class on Craftsy called Know Your Yarn. I'm constantly referring knitters to her books and video seems like such a good format for seeing the differences that yarn choice can make in your knitting.

Speaking of choosing yarns, look for this cute guide from Hannah Fettig in your local yarn store that will give you ballpark yardage for all kinds of garments.

We've had fun here following Lisa Congdon's Creativebug drawing class (although my drawings so far amount to doodling on photos for the blog), so I was delighted to see that Cal Patch is doing one on pattern drafting. I won't be here for the first two classes, but I've seen how excited Cal's students are after one of her in-person classes!

This slideshow of Kaffe Fassett's work in the New York Times. By the way, I recently found this tv series about him from the early nineties that you can watch on the Channel 4 website.

Handerbeit und Hobby, the big European craft trade show was this past weekend. Read about Baa Ram Ewe's trip here (although I appear to have finally succeeded in being in two places at once since I remember being at home!).

Beautiful Breton lace stunningly photographed in National Geographic — I'd love to read more about the young women who are keeping these traditions alive.

This article confirmed what we all knew already: knitting is good for you.
