A rather sweaty Scout Tee

A rather sweaty Scout Tee

I made this Scout Woven Tee before my trip to Cambodia last month. It's a very simple pattern with clear instructions that went together effortlessly. I used French seams everywhere — there's a helpful post from Grainline Studio on using them for setting in the sleeve if you've only tried them on a straight seam. Perfect for this almost sheer fabric and such a nice clean finish.

The fabric is from Leslie Shrewing's Palos Verdes collection for Cloud 9. This is their first voile and I'm in love with both the quality of the fabric and all of the designs in the collection. I'm desperately trying to come up with reasons to order the entire collection in garment quantities. Scout's for every day of the week? I'm really excited to see more garment fabrics from Cloud 9 — I believe Lisa Congdon also has an upcoming Voile collection with them which I can't wait to see.

Nothing was going to be cool in the heat but the lightweight fabric and breezy shape definitely meant this was less sweaty than a regular tshirt.

I'm writing this back in Scotland, in my studio with the backdoor open, waiting for a thunderstorm to pass. The rain is heavier than any I've heard since I got back and listening to it crashing through the trees and looking at these pictures is almost like being back in the jungle. Maybe I'll wear Scout tomorrow, with a jumper. But please rain, could you stop? Your messing with my plan to ride my bike home and sew the jeans that I cut out this morning. I need them to wear with my shirt!
