Beautiful Projects - Lopi

For a good value, hard wearing, honest yarn, it is hard to beat Iceland's Lopi. It comes in loads of colours and weights and the projects produced from it will last. Most importantly, if where you are is as cold as Edinburgh is right now, they will be warm.

We now sell Strokkur kits in the shop, if you want to make one in Ysolda's original colourway, but here are other ways to use Lopi for Ysolda patterns.

I'm a little in love with these Garter Stitch Mitts by voodikon. Lopi is a heavier weight yarn than was originally used for the pattern but she's helpfully included some great notes on adjusting the pattern for gauge and fit.

It's also a great choice for slippers that might get a little more wear than your usual knitted garment. This pair of Not-so-tiny slippers was made by deeptone

There is so much to love about this adorable project by text767. The sweet little Poklon is cute enough, but the Lopi sweater she knit for the pup made me want to run round to her house to pet him...

Lopi makes the perfect dense, but warm fabric for a pair of Cadeautje slippers. This pair (there were two made!) were knitted by linekh

It's a little more unusual to see a Lopi project with cables, but this Vivian knit by nenakokopelli shows how wonderful it can work with a bit of texture. Stunning!
